Consob Enforcement Action – 27ProQuote scam still active offering high crypto deposit bonus

The 27ProQuote (a/k/a ProQuote27) scam is one of them. Most recently, Italy's Consob ordered the black-out of the scam's website www.27proquote.com. FinTelegram reported that Maltese ApcoPay was uncovered to be a payment facilitator in the 27ProQuo scam. Lately, the scam has bet on crypto, promising up to a 50% bonus on crypto deposits. At the time of our re-review (24 Feb 2021), the registration and login page was offline.

Post-Brexit! FCA scam warning against CySEC-regulated Brokereo

The UK FCA has issued a warning against Brokereo and qualified it as a possible scam. The operator is Concorde Investments (Cyprus) Ltd, registered in Cyprus and regulated by CySEC under license number 189/13. The domain www.brokero.com is also approved by CySEC. However, during our review, we found problems with the KYC/AML procedures of the broker. Among others, Sepaga E.M.I. Ltd in Cyprus acts as a payment facilitator.

German-Ukrainian Capital Letter Scam Group and its payment facilitators

German Capital Letter group operatees scams such as BrightFinance, SolidInvest, GFXRoyal, STSRoyal, STSCrypto, or GFXFinance. Various European regulators such as the FCA, BaFin, or the FMA have already warned and issued Cease and Desist Orders over the last months. The Italian Consob has ordered a blackout of the sites. Some scams are still active. Now the UK FCA issued a new warning. Praxis Cashier is still facilitating the GFXRoyal scam along with the Estonian AnyCach OÜ (d/b/a any.money).

EU regulators’ problems with CySEC and its investment firms

The UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) suspended the EU license passporting rules and banned several CySEC-regulated Ínvestment Firms (CIF). Among them Magnum FX, Rodeler, Hoch Capital, and F1Markets. Roy Almagor's two firms - Maxigrid and Maxiflex voluntarily withdrew before the FCA blocked them. The Italian Consob has already blocked some CySEC CIFs from the Italian market before the FCA. Now a problem is also looming from Spain's CNMV as per a CySEC circular. Truth is, that CySEC and its CIFs have long been an issue for EU regulators.

Italian Consob orders black-out of five illegal financial services providers

The Italian watchdog Consob is currently the only financial market regulator known to us that has the legal authority to order internet providers to black-out of illegal financial sites. So far Consob has already blocked 335 websites for the Italian market. Almost all blocked sites offer illegal broker services.

Italian Consob ordered black-out for another five scam brokers

The Italian Consob is the only EU regulator with the power to block websites of unauthorized financial service providers and scams as a means of regulatory enforcement action. The black-out of the respective website is intended to prevent Italian consumers from accessing these offers and being cheated. On Nov 9, 2020, Consob ordered the black-out of another five websites.

IC Markets blocked by CONSOB and thrown out by Inter Milan

In June 2020 IC Markets signed a sponsorship deal with Inter Milan. Under the agreement, approximately €14 million was payable to Seria A club over a 3-year period. This was reported by the FX News Group. In October 2020 Inter Milan terminated the agreement. IC Markets is said to have failed to make the promised payments on time and, moreover, the blocking of IC Markets for the Italian market by CONSOB allegedly also played a role in the termination.

Austrian FMA and other regulators warn against StarkMarkets broker scam

The Austrian Financial Market Authority FMA has issued an investor warning against the scam broker StarkMarkets (www.starkmarkets.com) which is allegedly operated by Krisimark Ltd and SWISSGEM Ltd in Sofia, Bulgaria. Already in June 2020, the Canadian British Colombia Securities Commission (BSC) issued an investor warning, and in July the New Zealand FMA (here). The scam facilitating payment processor is once again the Cypriot Praxis Cashier.

BaFin issues cease and desist order against TheCapitalStocks and RoyaltyFinance

The German regulator BaFin has warned against the broker scams TheCapitalStocks (www.thecapitalstocks.com) and RoyaltyFinance (www.royaltyfinance.io) which are allegedly operated by Kleinman Enterprise Ltd in St. Vincent & the Grenadines. Already in August 2020, the Italian CONSOB warned against these scams. Both are white label solutions of the Bulgarian Global CRM Solution Platform.

Spanish Watchdog CNMV warns against GlobalspotFX and Trade Com

The Spanish regulator CNMV has issued an investor warning against the scam broker GlobalspotFX (www.globalspotfx.com). The scam is allegedly operated by Trade Com Limited for an office in London. As a payment provider we have found the Russian PayeCards (www.payecards.com). Already in July 2020, the Italian regulator CONSOB had issued a warning against the scam.

CySEC Scam Tourism – The Israeli Maxigrid Network attacking EU investors

This is the second part of our series about CySEC Scam Tourism which has its roots in the era of binary options. In this period between 2010 and 2017, mainly Israeli financial entrepreneurs came to Cyprus en masse to set up their CySEC regulated Binary Options Brokers. Simona Weinglass, an investigative reporter of The Times of Israel, called it Israel's vast and amoral scam industry. The CySEC has not made things too difficult for these foreign binary options scammers.

CONSOB blacked out another six scam brokers

The Italian regulator CONSOB blacklisted a further seven scam brokers on 3 August 2020. This means that the brokers' websites will soon no longer be accessible for Italian customer victims. At present, the Italian watchdog is the only regulator using this sensible measure. The number of sites blacked out since July 2019 has thus risen to 268.
